]]>The post Cost savings with Testing as a service model for international information technology firm appeared first on Beyondsoft.
]]>Client
A multinational information technology company that have been in partnership with BeyondSoft since 1998.
Background
The business division from the information technology firm was looking to engage a test service partner using Testing as a Service (TaaS) model to help their business:
Before Transformation
The Hardware Quality Engineering test (HWQE) was executed by multiple test vendors. The HWQE also engaged an onsite contractor at their office to manage the test execution & planning from different test partners. Besides that, the company owned all the test equirement, and conducted the test planning, logistics and defects management. This caused more cost to be incurred, and more effort needed to standardise the reporting for program team as different test partners have different tools and process.
After Transformation
Beyondsoft is the single Testing Service Provider for the HWQE where we owned all the necessary items for Test Planning & Execution (Test Resource Management, Logistics, Samples & Media, and Test Planning & Tactical) as well as Results Reporting (Data & Results, Dashboarding, Defect Tracking & Management).
BYS has invested close to USD 2 million to setup a reliability test lab within 6 months, which is fully operational.
Currently, 95% of the HWQE can be conducted in-house in BYS. Remaining 5% are certification related and to be assigned to BYS test partner.
Beyond that, the computer company has also streamlined their tools and processes for TaaS model. This in turn greatly optimizes their data collection for analysis by gathering the right data across various touchpoints.
Client’s Benefit
Through the TaaS model, the company gains an estimate cost savings of approximately USD 600K. Further, by adopting this model, it also greatly improves business agility as it brings more productivity and cost-efficiency without compromising on quality. In essence, the HWQE can now focus more on quality without spending efforts and resources in defining the test planning and reporting. By translating raw data into insights across various touchpoints, it helps to provide more relevant, personalized, and agile content for customers to drive data insights.

]]>Client
A multinational information technology company that have been in partnership with Beyondsoft since 1998.
Challenges
The company decided to shut down the test lab in China and shift their operations to Singapore and Malaysia. However, it is easier said than done as Covid-19 has posted one of the major impacts during this transition due to non-essential industries receiving stop work order from governments. Hence, Beyondsoft had to create an innovative way to perform the knowledge transition and complete the lab setup without jeopardizing the transition schedule.
In addition, the company also required that the test lab setup must be in accordance to the same standard in Shanghai; with strict security requirements (certified test lab, isolated network etc.) and lab facilities requirement (Test Chambers, 230V electricity output andetc.) Before the transition, the company’s DIST (Designed Integrated System Test) was conducted in-house at Shanghai using BeyondSoft resources. The Test lab and facilities are owned by the computer company’s Chinese offices, however BeyondSoft supplied the CW (expand) headcount to them.
Results
DIST was conducted in-house at the company’s Shanghai office using BYS resources and fully operational within 6 months of transition. This includes the following:
Moreover, Beyondsoft had fulfilled all manpower resource requirements by filling all roles with existing talent pool plus new hires in Singapore. All training were conducted successfully via Remote Test Management initiative.
Client Benefit
The client enjoyed the benefit of consolidated and streamlined process and documentations, aside from increased efficiency by leveraging support from other Beyondsoft testing team.

]]>The post Data migration to Hadoop delivers 80% cost savings while improving performance for bank appeared first on Beyondsoft.
]]>To reduce costs, our financial customer needed to migrate all their business and banking data from Teradata to Hadoop. But the data to be migrated was extremely sensitive and essential for daily business activities, which meant the migration needed to be highly secure with no downtime. To add to the complexity, the data came from multiple banking sectors such as financial data, loans, credit cards, and consumer banking, each with its unique migration challenges. Our customer needed a technology partner that could handle these challenges and complete the data migration in just 18 months.
Beyondsoft was chosen to plan and implement the migration from Teradata to Hadoop. Initially, our customer had estimated the scope of the migration to be 2,000 tables with 2,800 objects. However, once Beyondsoft initiated the work, we found they had inadvertently miscalculated and that there were actually 6,000 objects, making the 18-month project timeline even more challenging.
Additionally, because the migration source and destination were very different, to avoid data and functionality issues, Beyondsoft needed to redefine the data architecture. By redesigning the architecture to accommodate the destination format, Beyondsoft achieved performance improvements and complied with end-user requirements.
Furthermore, to avoid disrupting any services that were dependent upon the data, Beyondsoft worked with the customer to create a prioritization plan for the migration, starting with the most frequently used data first and ending with infrequently used data. Throughout the project, Beyondsoft ensured that more than 100 user entities who required data did not see any downtime, even when occasional issues were encountered.

The data migration was a resounding success, delivering the following benefits to our customer:

]]>The post ETL monitoring and management solution increases visibility by 87% and productivity by 43% appeared first on Beyondsoft.
]]>At the time, our banking customer had no central ETL monitoring and management solution for their data warehouse. They did not have visibility into the jobs that were scheduled or underway or which jobs had failed. They had no method for automatically reinitiating jobs that had failed. They were also unable to pinpoint the reason a job failed.
They needed a centralized dashboard to handle their business side as well as the ability to monitor and manage hundreds of attributes around the various jobs, including job status, job flows, errors and failures, successful completions, failure reports, ticket handling, and more. Our customer also needed the ability to retrigger failed jobs on an ad-hoc basis along with process lineage visibility.
Beyondsoft created a centralized ETL monitoring and management solution, including multiple MVPs within just seven months. The solution enables our customer to monitor incoming jobs from several data pipelines from multiple source systems in different formats. The solution delivers insights on job status including run time, success or failure status, reason of failure, and other key measures.
Beyondsoft also created a tool to automatically handle job failures. When a job fails, the tool creates a failure report with in-depth details including who initiated the job, how long the job had been running, the reason for failure, and other details. The solution then automatically generates a ticket that is escalated to the appropriate party.

The ETL monitoring and management solution provides our customer with a central dashboard for monitoring as well as in-depth visibility and control through error detection, error enrichment, event triggering services, unified monitoring service, unified metadata, SLA impact, and recovery. Our customer also benefits from enhancements in their existing components like Airflow, Job Server, Ingestion, Computes, and DaaS. The solution from Beyondsoft delivered the following benefits:
Java 1.8, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring MVP, Spring Data, Spring Security, Kafka, ELK, Filebeat, Healthbeat, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, React js, and Kibana.
