In this month’s Employee Spotlight, meet Larissa Ferreira, a Senior Marketing Analyst in Chris Knott’s Go-to-Market Team in Brazil. Larissa applies her enthusiasm for technology and marketing toward growing brand awareness and market share and helping Beyondsoft achieve its goals. She also collaborates with local teams to drive marketing strategies across services and solutions and position the company as a global system integrator.

One of the things Larissa loves most about Beyondsoft is the company culture, which focuses on giving people opportunities to learn and achieve their personal goals. “At Beyondsoft, I am presented with an amazing opportunity to learn and grow,” says Larissa. “Our passionate workforce is made up of diverse individuals from countries across the world – all working to build a successful business together!”

Larissa says that she has already experienced personal growth in the short time she has been with Beyondsoft, including improved marketing skills, increased English proficiency, and expanded knowledge of strategy and people.

Outside of work, Larissa enjoys socializing with friends, exploring the local area, finding new places to enjoy, and refueling at cafés. My career at Beyondsoft

As a business operation analyst, I work in the business management office, where I wear multiple hats. My primary role is to collect and analyze data from different departments and share this information with company stakeholders. I also perform contract management and interface with IT to design and oversee workflows to review contracts, assess risks, and ensure compliance.

When I’m not busy with data analysis and contracts management, I help manage a variety of projects across departments, such as setting up new entities in other countries as we expand into new markets. When the business team needs to hire a contractor, I participate in this process as well, performing background checks and reviewing credentials.

What I love most about my role

Beyondsoft is truly a great place to work, and the variety of responsibilities has allowed me to expand my expertise in business and economics. I’ve gained broad exposure to how a global IT consulting company operates, and I’ve grown my business knowledge by interfacing with the leadership team and learning what factors into making decisions. My role has also helped me to build my communication skills and data analytics capabilities.

I truly love the people here at Beyondsoft. This is my first career role since graduating with a master’s degree in Singapore and moving to the US (I’m originally from China). My colleagues have been very supportive and awesome to work with, making my transition into a new culture and career much easier.

I also appreciate the speed at which we move. Even though we are a large company, people here are very flexible and move quickly.

When I’m not working

I’m a big foodie and enjoy sampling dishes from different countries. I’m always experimenting with new recipes and love checking out new restaurants.

When I’m not cooking or eating, I enjoy watching movies and reading books. My favorite movie is Little Miss Sunshine and my favorite book is Norwegian Wood. Sometimes I also volunteer at my son’s school.

Something most people don’t know about me

Real estate fascinates me, and I’m considering becoming a realtor in my retirement years.

Joined Beyondsoft in Aug-20 and managing DBS account since then. Living in Singapore, most happening place in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining BYS, I had worked in Tata Consultancy Services for 25 years – worked in India, US, UK, Hong Kong, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Have performed various roles – Delivery, Operations, account managed and business development.? Prior experience in TCS helps me in managing DBS account in Singapore.?

Marketing: Hi, thanks for agreeing to be this month’s spotlight ! How long have you been with Beyondsoft ? What does your role entail ?

Answer:? Have been in Beyondsoft for 2 years now. Am the account director for DBS and resides in Singapore. As part of the role, am responsible for account KPIs (Revenue, EBIT) and for overall delivery. We have seen exponential growth of the account and currently we have 165 consultants serving customer from various locations – Singapore, China, India, US and Indonesia. I enjoy my role and thanks BYS management for providing me a space to work as per customer needs.

Marketing:?What do you like most about your job? Is there a unique (or fun) project you’ve been working on that you can talk about??

Answer:? Due to COVID restrictions, we have not had many employ engagement activities. We have had BBQ for all our employees working at DBS and everyone enjoyed. We have about 10 volunteers from account team and engagement activities are being planned at present.

Answer: Company provides complete flexibility and freedom to work with. All our employees work in latest technology at DBS and good place to work and learn.

Answer: Work in Hybrid environment and I believe this is the way forward. Hybrid environments provides advantages – work remotely when you need to complete tasks alone and work from office when you need to accomplish work in collaboration with others.

Marketing:?What is your philosophy?

Answer: Work with larger interest of organization and company provides opportunities for your career growth. Most of us look at what is in it for me and why company not providing this and that… If you are senior (say 10 year’ experience) then you are integral part of company hence you need to be part of the problem to come up with solution. When you say why company is not providing so and so then you are not considering yourself as part of organization. My suggestion is own the problem for better solution. ?

Answer:? Think by wearing others hat. Six thinking hats helps me perform role better and provide better services to my customer.

Introduction of myself

I am Yeo Jing Yi, most of my colleagues call me Jingyi or JY, and I am based in Beyonsoft Singapore office. I started my career in the recruitment field when I joined Beyondsoft, and before this I was working as business/sales ops related.

Marketing: What do you like most about your job? Is there a unique (or fun) ?project you’ve been working on that you can talk about??

Answer: The ever changing and constant challenges that comes with different projects / clients. Different projects may have similar requirements, but with slight difference in key requirements. Some of the projects that I am involved with would require me to identify and source for candidates that are based in Singapore, Malaysia and even India. And the roles that I have worked on would vary from Engineering related roles to IT related roles.

Marketing:?We can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves! What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Answer: The first few months can be tough, especially coming from different industry of different background, learning curve can be steep but very satisfying once able to pick up. So during the first few months, try to learn and understand as much as you can , and seek advise from team members when you are unclear.

Marketing: Do you work in-office or remote? What are your biggest productivity tips ?for that environment??

Answer: I work in office with the rest of my Singapore team members. In terms of productivity tips, it would be to list down the tasks that needs to be clear. This may sound silly, but we get various emails and tasks as our working day progresses. So listing down the tasks would really help to keep track and remind ourselves on what needs to be cleared. ?

Marketing:?What is your philosophy??

Answer: “Work smart, play hard”. At work, there are many ways to achieve the same result. Find the most suitable and most productivity way , and after giving your 110% at work, also give 110% to yourself to rest and recharge

Marketing:?What’s your MBTI??

Answer:? My MBTI is Architect

Marketing:?Recommendation time: Is there anything you currently love and want to share? This can be a podcast, book, tv show, music, activity – you name it!?

Introduction of yourself

Hi, my name is Foo Ngai Hang, but usually my colleagues will call me Foo. I’ve been ?working in HR recruitment field for more than 3 years. During these few years, I ?enjoyed working in this HR field with an excellent record of identifying and placing ?superior job candidates. I’m so grateful to be selected as one of the employees based ?in Malaysia for conducting this employee interview.

Marketing: Hi thanks for agreeing to be this month’s spotlight! How long have you ?been with Beyondsoft? What does your role entail??

Answer: I’ve been working with Beyondsoft as a Talent Acquisition Executive for ?more than 2 years since August 2020. As a part of Talent Acquisition team, I’m ?responsible for identifying, acquiring, assessing, and hiring candidates to fill up open ?positions within a company. I’m also responsible for developing employer branding ?and communicating a clear brand to potential candidates. In addition to that, ?candidate life cycle will need to manage by our team, from the initial application ?through the final job offer.?

Marketing: What do you like most about your job? Is there a unique (or fun) ?project you’ve been working on that you can talk about??

Answer: Working as a Talent Acquisition has allowed me to enrich the lives of my ?candidates; directly as well as indirectly. If we consider the impact I have made on ?my candidates, maybe it’s more money, maybe it’s an opportunity for them for them ?to have more responsibility at work. The candidates are better suited, and they give ?back to the world, their community, and their families.

I’ve been involved in various type of internal projects with Beyondsoft, mainly on IT ?role openings related. The most unique tasks that I can talk about is I’m able to ?interact with people in different locations such as Indonesia, Philippines etc., not ?limited to Malaysia.?

Marketing: We can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves! What advice ?would you give to recent new hires?

Answer: I would like to advise new hires to get to know their coworkers in order to ?integrate with their new work environment. In the first few weeks, the new hires ?should spend more time with their colleagues, both during working hours and during ?breaks. Having relationships with coworkers can also ensure them have a few people ?can talk to when they need assistance. Moreover, new hires are encouraged to ask a ?lot of questions and create a culture where helping each other with these questions. ?Asking question can helps to clarity expectations and also accelerates the learning ?process so we can start seeing value earlier from the new hires.?

Marketing: Do you work in-office or remote? What are your biggest productivity tips ?for that environment??

Answer: I’m working in office with my other team members. There are quite a few ?advantages for this working mode, especially the work zones establishment. Design ?pleasant and quiet spaces in the offices are essential and allow employees to meet ?and work as a team, enhancing collaboration when necessary. Besides, an effective?communication and the collaborations between teams can be promoted in order to ?boost the productivity.?

Marketing: What is your philosophy??

Answer: As a Talent Acquisition, my philosophy is “Treat others as I want to be ?treated”. Continuous communication with applicants is important to be successful at ?recruiting and retaining talent. In a real-life situation, recognizing the qualities of ?others is equivalent to recognizing myself. It is a training that leads me to constantly ?grow your ability to notice the potential I have inside. It will helps to contribute to ?the joy of people who rediscover their own worth and at the same time, it elevates ?my mood.?

As a Senior Presales Architect for Big Data and Cloud, I am excited to be part of the growing business segment in Beyondsoft Singapore. I have developed passion to embrace leading edge cloud and foundation technologies over the years. Prior to Beyondsoft, I served as Technical Consultant of Application Infrastructure group at the Government Technology Agency. Previously, I was a Cloud Solution Architect for Cloud Unified Communication Solution at Mitel Networks. I hold an electrical engineering degree from the National Taiwan University, and a M.Sc. from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

Answer:?I joined Beyondsoft in October 2021. It is coming to a year serving in Beyondsoft. The Senior Presales Architect role gives me the opportunities to provide consultancy on technical design and implementation of solutions in the private and commercial clouds. The role demands fusing of commercial acumen in solution design to develop an appealing and effective offering for stakeholders.

Answer:?The interesting part of my job is the multi-faceted role that it entails. The techno-commercial role faces external stakeholders, partners and works closely with internal teams across regions and departments. It needs all the talents one could muster!

Answer:?It’s always rewarding to devote on stuffs that one enjoys. Nurture that along the way to attain work and personal fulfilment.???

Answer:?I have flexi-work arrangement due to the nature of pre-sale role. Investing in ergonomic workstation for home office and saving of commuting time really improves work efficiency. This month, we are featuring a member of our recruiting team! Meet Rachel Warren!?

Marketing:?Hi Rachel, thanks for agreeing to be this month’s spotlight! How long have you been with Beyondsoft? What does your role entail??

Rachel:?Hi! I’ve been here since July of 2019. As the Corporate Recruiter, I handle all corporate hiring and oversee/maintain our Applicant Tracking System iCIMS and other recruiting tools/processes for all company staffing. I also get to work on many HR projects outside of recruiting.

Marketing:?What do you like most about your job? Is there a unique (or fun) project you’ve been working on that you can talk about??

Rachel:?First and foremost, I love my team (shoutout to the best HR team in the game!). I also love the flexibility to work on projects that I find professionally fulfilling, like the DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) program, which I am now running (keep your eyes peeled this year for more DEI initiatives).

Marketing:?We can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves! What advice would you give to recent new hires??

Rachel:?Don’t be afraid to ask questions and take notes! I still sometimes reference notes I took during my first week of work.?

Marketing:?Do you work in-office or remote? What are your biggest productivity tips for that environment??

Rachel:?I work remotely for the time being and have been for a vast majority of my tenure at BCI (I started just six months before the first COVID case in the US…and happen to live in the same city where that case occurred). Working remotely is not for everyone, but I love it! My best productivity tip is to have a routine, make yourself an excellent area to work from, and TAKE BREAKS!

Marketing:?If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?

Rachel:??Hmmm, well, I look nothing like her, and I’m not British, but Emily Blunt was the first name that popped in my head…I love her sense of humor!

Marketing:?What is your philosophy??

Rachel:?Kindness, respect, common sense, and laughter rule all.?

Marketing:?Not a bad philosophy. What do you like to do in your spare time? What is something you’re good at? Is there something you’re terrible at (that you feel comfortable sharing, of course!)?

Rachel:?I’m a pretty laid-back gal. In my spare time, I love just being with my friends and family, and I’ve lived in the Pacific NW all my life, so any time there’s sunshine, you’ll find me outside!

Rachel:?ORGANIZED! I can tell you where every item I own is at this very moment. It’s a problem, actually, haha.

Welcome back for February’s Employee Spotlight. For those of you new to this, we choose a Beyondsoft employee and ask them questions about their role in the company, as well as a few “just for fun” questions, so our readers get the chance to learn more about the incredible people who make up our team. This month, we are featuring another member from our Costa Rica subsidiary, BeyondExpect. Meet Mariana Ortega.?

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do at BeyondExpect.

I’m the Recruiter for Beyondsoft in Costa Rica. I started this amazing journey since September 2021.

What do you like most about your job??

The opportunity I have to help people find a position in which they will shine. Meeting candidates, listening about their lives and professional experiences, and learning from them is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

In ten years, I’d like to find myself in a leadership position within the Recruitment area. Sharing my experience and helping others to build a successful career path and achieve what I’ve accomplished.

What advice would you give new hires??

?

The first and most important advice: Trust yourself! You are here because recruiters and hiring managers agreed that you were prepared for this new challenge. Ask for help when needed and be open to receive feedback. Learn from your mistakes and always have a positive attitude.

Throughout your life, what do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment so far??

One of my biggest accomplishments was the opportunity I had to serve as a volunteer for almost two years in Brazil. This experience opened my eyes and helped me understand that simple actions can change someone’s life and a simple smile can brighten someone’s day. Through this experience I understood what really matters in life.

What does true leadership mean to you?

True leadership means being a good listener, put yourself in the shoes of another, help others to develop their potential and make each team member feel valued. A good leader motivates and inspires!

What does true leadership mean to you?

It means serving others, identifying talent and nurturing it, establishing relationships that can grow with?clients, employees and stakeholders. It means learning from your mistakes, never yielding to pride and?working side by side with your team. Leaders embrace change and challenges, and help others get?through difficulties through guidance and partnership.

If you could time travel, where and when would you go? Why?

I would probably choose going 100 years in the future. It would be a mind-blowing experience.

What is the most important thing you have?learned in the last five years??

The most important thing I’ve learned can be summed up in a single phrase: ‘’What’s meant to be will always find its way.’’

What would be the title of your autobiography??

A life with purpose.

Recommendation time: Is there anything you are currently loving and want to share? This?can be a podcast, book, tv show, music, activity … you name it!

I’m passionate about psychological thriller films! Would recommend watching Shutter Island, Seven and The Silence of the Lambs.

For those of you new to this, we choose a Beyondsoft employee and ask them questions about their role in the company, as well as a few “just for fun” questions, so our readers get the chance to learn more about the incredible people who make up our team. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background and what you do at BeyondExpect.

I was born in San José, Costa Rica, have lived in Costa Rica, Chile, Uruguay, Spain and the United States.I love reading about history, politics, and current events. I enjoy power walking and outdoors activities.?I have 20 years of experience in the services and consulting industry; I’ve held leadership positions inHewlett Packard Enterprise, Fiserv, Thomson Reuters. My role at BeyondExpect has two hats. I am the?Senior Service Delivery Manager of several groups in Costa Rica and Asia that form part of the World?Wide Learning Service Desk organization. We support the Microsoft Enterprise Skilling Initiative in?partnership with different teams. I am also the Country Manager of BeyondExpect in Costa Rica.

What are you hoping to accomplish within BeyondExpect in the next year?

We hope to expand our client base, develop a best in class organization, work closely with our team to?develop an excellent work environment, promote Beyondsoft as a great company to work for and do?business with, and establish strategic alliances with potential partners.

How have you enjoyed working with the company so far?

Loved every minute of it!

What does the company plan to bring to the current market?

Consulting services that far out reach those of our competitors. We bring forward innovative solutions?that will address client needs and exceed their expectations. We are already working with clients?through our Recruiting services, and want to expand into BPO, Staffing, IT Consulting, and of course?support our Beyondsoft colleagues who are interested in doing business in Costa Rica.

What is something about Costa Rica that you’d like to share with US readers?

Costa Rica is much more than beautiful beaches and gourmet coffee. It is a global hub that serves?thousands of companies across diverse industries offering ?highly rated services. It has a first rate?educational system and a talent base composed by many well prepared and experienced professionals.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Never stop learning, ask as many questions as you need to ask, partner with your colleagues and be very?collaborative, develop a deep rooted commitment to deliver your work with high quality standards and?always listen to feedback.
